Barcelona opportunity
Barcelona Opportunity AB (publ) was established in 2017 to facilitate investment into the booming real estate market of Spain and more specifically Barcelona. The business objective is to acquire both prime and distressed real estate projects at attractive valuations which are then refurbished and developed before project exit aimed at long-term property management firms.
Who we are
Our expertise covers everything from green-field development to property management. Financially the company has been backed up by some of the wealthiest fund managers in Scandinavia as well as a successful entrepreneur from the gaming industry. Barcelona Opportunity’s management team exist of a variety of professionals from a wide range of industries, with long experience from both the international and the Spanish real estate market. The founders also possess experience from other industries such as energy, venture capital and finance.
Why now?
The Spanish property market went through a great depression after the crisis in 2008, which still today offers opportunities to grasp. Since 2014 there has been a strong recovery in the Barcelona real estate market. Furthermore, Spain is the fastest growing major economy in Europe – showing signs of strengths across many industries, with a firm pick-up in real estate prices. In our view: A window of opportunity!
Why invest in Barcelona?
2017 offers a fantastic opportunity to invest in Spanish real estate, driven by a mixture of low valuations, which can still be up to 25% below the peak levels seen in 2007 for some regions, a low interest rate environment and a booming economy.
Spain was the most rapidly expanding of the Eurozone’s big four economies during 2016, when GDP growth amounted to 3.2%, compared with 1,7% for the euro area as a whole. Moreover, unemployment in the country is at the lowest since 2009, trailing at just over 4.2 million people.
What we do
We acquire, develop and market properties in attractive locations in Barcelona and its coastline with the long-term strategy of being active in conversions, development and property management. We focus on conversion & refurbishments of small to middle sized objects and special opportunity properties (such as foreclosures and distressed properties).
We believe successful investing requires a local market presence with the operational and analytical expertise to buy, manage and sell real estate assets. Barcelona Opportunity’s breadth, expertise and solutions approach are critical to achieving this objective.

Project management
Our project-management team, is a multi-disciplinary team that knows how to define, plan, monitor and deliver a project on time, within budget and to the highest quality. The Project Management group allows Barcelona Opportunity to deliver a high quality process through the lifecycle of a project – from concept, through construction to completion. The group’s activities include sub-consultant, budgeting and cost management; programme and resource management; contract management and administration.
DesigN
Our architects and engineers work together creatively from the beginning of a project. By doing so, they can combine their knowledge, and learn from one another, to devise sustainable, fully integrated design solutions. Barcelona Opportunity understands that the best design comes from a completely integrated approach from conception to completion. The design teams are supported by numerous external disciplines, ensuring that we have the knowledge base to create buildings that are environmentally sustainable and uplifting to use.
